Hearts and Sleeves - Week Nine
The media is something that you can’t avoid in this culture (that is unless you live in a monastery), but you can control how much you let it affect you. The media is driven by the things of this world and too much exposure can squelch your love for the Lord. Be wise with the media you consume in your personal time and be careful with what types of media you let enter into your mind. How do you know if it was bad for you? You know if afterwards your mind is full of things that don’t bring glory to the Lord, if desires for the world are stirred up and your desire for the Lord diminished, or if it inspired a spirit of fear, then it wasn’t for you to be exposed to. Repent and avoid such things in the future. Our minds are the temple of the Holy Spirit and we want to keep it clean and pure so He can dwell there. And instead of being controlled by the media, turn the tables and begin to dream and pray about how you can make a difference in the media for the glory of God! (2 Timothy 2:20-22)
